Producing high quality CO2 for the greenhouses (depending on the needs of the plants) with a reasonable cost using an advanced Process.
PROBLEM ADDRESSED: The enrichment with CO2 becomes one the worldwide methods to increase crop yields inside greenhouses. Current CO2 enrichment systems is based on combustion of fossil fuels (Natural gas, crude oil, etc.) is highly cost inefficient and show a major problem in the greenhouse market. The cost volatility of the current systems is associated to the instability of the feedstock prices and the continuing need in equipment maintenance. In addition, the generated impurities such as Sulphur Dioxide (SO2), Carbon Monoxide (CO) and Nitrous Oxides (N2O), in case of incomplete combustion, can be really harmful for the plants that use the CO2 in the photosynthesis process for their growth.
APPLICATION SOLUTION: Our strategy consists on delivering CO2 (as a nutrient) for greenhouses using a free of charge feedstock and readily available everywhere (air). In this context, we expect that the above mentioned advantages of this first product among others will lead to economic benefits. More specifically, this first project aims specifically to increase the CO2 concentration from 400 ppm ~ 0.04% (normal concentration of CO2 in the air), to 1000/1500ppm depending on the needs of the plants. The advanced process will use a porous material that adsorbs CO2 molecules within the pores, and then concentrate it in the greenhouse in order to stimulate plant growth.
